Creative Discovery in PaintShop Pro
Lesson 11

You will need these Gradients. I have zipped them up for you.

Unzip and place the supplies into a Folder called Gradients on your computer where you will keep them.


First - Wait for the Video player to load
Then - You need to watch the video before doing lesson below - it has a lot more important information and explanations for you
You may do the lesson as you watch the video though
Also - Click the full screen button on the player to watch it full screen or you may not see all of the settings properly



1. PREPARATIONS

Then go to File > Preferences > File Locations
Locate the Gradients in the left hand box under File types and click on it
To get PSP to find the gradients that you just added go to ADD
A new box - Browse for Folder - will pop open.
Browse for the Folder where you placed your gradients into at the beginning of this lesson.
Select that folder and Click OK

    Open a New Image
  • 200 x 200
  • Raster Background
  • Transparent
Click OK


2. 1st GRADIENT

Click on the Gradient option in the Materials Palette - the Middle one in the drop down menu



Click on the gradient that appears in your foreground box and this will open all of the gradients you have in the Material Properties box
Gradient at the top should be selected, but check the Texture are that the ADD TEXTURE box is UNTICKED Go back to Gradient and Select ALL if not already selected.
Scroll until you find the gradient called "adsgrad_candycane" - It is red and white - Click on it.

    Use the following Settings:-
  • Linear
  • Angle - 0
  • Repeats - 0
Click OK

3. 2nd GRADIENT

Open a new image by holding the Shift key down and click on the New Image Icon in the top left corner.
This will open a new image exactly the same as the last one we opened.
Go back to the Materials Palette and click on the gradient and then Scroll until you find the gradient called "adsgoldgrad" - Click on it.

    Use the following Settings:-
  • Linear
  • Angle - 135
  • Repeats - 5
Click OK

4. 3rd GRADIENT

Open a new image by holding the Shift key down and click on the New Image Icon in the top left corner.
Now locate the gradient called "adsgrad_jade" - Click on it.

    Use the following Settings:-
  • Rectangular
  • Angle - 0
  • Repeats - 2
  • Centre Points (both boxes) - 50
  • Focal Points (both boxes) - 50
Click OK

5. 4th GRADIENT

Open another new image and locate the gradient called "adsgrad_treefrog" - Click on it.

    Use the following Settings:-
  • Sunburst
  • Angle - Greyed out
  • Repeats - 3
  • Centre Points Horizontal - 52
  • Centre Points Vertical - 31
  • Focal Point Horizontal - 78
  • Focal Point Vertcal - 39
Click OK

6. 5th GRADIENT

Open another new image and locate the gradient called "adsgrad_desertsunset" - Click on it.

    Use the following Settings:-
  • Radial/li>
  • Angle - 0
  • Repeats - 8
  • Centre Points Horizontal - 85
  • Centre Points Vertical - 25
  • Focal Points (both boxes) - greyed out
Click OK

7. DISPLAY THE GRADIENTS

Open a New Image - 550 x 450 - other settings same as before
Click OK

Copy and Paste all of your gradients onto this new image as New Layers
Spread them out with the move tool and add a drop shadow of your choice to each one

Layers >Merge > Merge All Flatten
Add a buttonize of your choice

Save as:- YourName-Lesson11
