Lesson 18

First - Wait for the Video player to load
Then - You need to watch the video before doing lesson below - it has a lot more important information and explanations for you
You may do the lesson as you watch the video though
Also - Click the full screen button on the player to watch it full screen or you may not see all of the settings properly



1.PAINT BRUSH

    Open a New Image
  • 300 x 300
  • Raster Background
  • Colour - Black
Click OK

Click on the Paint Brush Tool - the keyboard Shortcut is B


    Use these settings:-
  • Shape - Round
  • Size - 3
  • Hardness - 100
  • Step - 32
  • Density - 100
  • Thickness - 100
  • Rotation - 0
  • Opacity - 100
  • Blend Mode - Normal
  • Leave all others - UNTICKED
Load White into the Foreground box of the Materials Palette
Load Black into the Background box of the Materials Palette
Then just Scribble on your Black image - anything at all - Left click and hold the left mouse button down while scribbling.




2. KALEIDOSCOPE

Click on Kaleidoscope icon on your toolbar OR Effects > Reflection Effects > Kaleidoscope

    Us the following Settngs:-
  • Horizontal Offset - 100
  • Vertical Offset - 0
  • Rotation Angle - 0
  • Scale Factor - Negative 47
  • Number of Petals - 10
  • Number of Orbits - 0
  • Radial Suction - 0
  • Edge Mode - Reflect
Click OK




3. ERASER TOOL

Click on the Eraser tool - Keyboard Shortcut is X



    Use these settings:-
  • Shape - Round
  • Size - 50
  • Hardness - 100
  • Step - 25
  • Density - 100
  • Thickness - 100
  • Rotation - 0
  • Opacity - 100
  • Leave all others - UNTICKED
Now Rub over the white parts in the corners



Lower the Brush size to 25 and rub over the other white parts near the edges
Click on the Flood Fill tool and Right click on the areas where you deleted and this will fill those areas with your background colour - Black

If you are having trouble clicking on some small specks, go to the Brush and use that to Right click over those pesky specks.
They are hard to see sometimes, so zoom in to see better

4. SECOND PATTERN

    Open a New Image
  • 300 x 300
  • Raster Background
  • Colour - White
Click OK

Click on the Paint Brush Tool - the keyboard Shortcut is B
    Use these settings:-
  • Shape - Round
  • Size - 30
  • Hardness - 50
  • Step - 32
  • Density - 50
  • Thickness - 100
  • Rotation - 0
  • Opacity - 100
  • Blend Mode - Normal
  • Leave all others - UNTICKED
Choose a colour to add to your Foreground Box
Now draw some squiggles in the centre of your white image



Click on Kaleidoscope icon on your toolbar OR Effects > Reflection Effects > Kaleidoscope
Use YOUR OWN settings - start by clicking on the Reset to Default button if you wish, then change the settings one at a time, a little at a time to see what they do.
Choose your own Edge Mode also
When you are happy, Click OK.

Save as:- YourName - Lesson18b

5. THIRD PATTERN

    Open a New Image
  • 300 x 300
  • Raster Background
  • Colour - Your Choice
Click OK

Now Experiment with different settings on the brush - Choose a colour to compliment the colour you chose for the New Image
Do some squiggles and then another Kaleidoscope Effect
Use the Eraser tool to clean up the edges if you wish



Save as:- YourName - Lesson18c
