Creative Discovery in PaintShop Pro
Lesson 22


For this lesson I have used the following Textures.
  • Mosaic Weave
  • Squares
  • jd-texture32
  • jd-texture38
Check if you have these first and if not then download them from the Level 2 Downloads Page

First - Wait for the Video player to load
Then - You need to watch the video before doing lesson below - it has a lot more important information and explanations for you
You may do the lesson as you watch the video though
Also - Click the full screen button on the player to watch it full screen or you may not see all of the settings properly



1. FIRST TEXTURE

Open a new image
  • 400 x 400
  • Raster Background
  • Colour None - transparent Ticked
Click OK
Load any colour into your foreground box & Flood Fill your transparent image
Click on the Texture Icon (blue bricks) OR Effects > Texture Effects > Texture
Click on the Default settings
Locate Mosaic Weave and click on the pattern
Change the Size % to 67


Click OK

Save this as YourName-Lesson22a

2. SECOND TEXTURE

Open a new image
  • 400 x 400
  • Raster Background
  • Colour None - transparent Ticked
Click OK
Click on the Foreground box to open the Materials Property window
Click on Texture at the top on the Right
Tick the Add Texture box
Then scroll for Mosaic Weave and click on it.
~ Angle - 0
~ Scale - 67


Click OK
Flood Fill the transparent Image
Merge all (Flatten)

Save this as YourName-Lesson22b


3. THIRD TEXTURE

Open a new image - Same settings as before
Click OK
Put the choice of colour into your background box - Use the small boxes and arrows to swap so that the colour in the background is a solid colour



Flood Fill with this colour
Click on the Texture Icon and Locate Squares
Click on this texture
~ Angle - 0
~ Scale - 67
Click OK


Save this as YourName-Lesson22c

4. FOURTH TEXTURE

Open a new image - Same settings as before
Click OK
Swap the colours back, so that your colour choice is in the foreground box (still with the texture selected in this box)
Locate the Squares texture and Flood Fill the transparent image
Merge all (Flatten)


Save this as YourName-Lesson22d

4. FIFTH TEXTURE

Open a new image - Same settings as before
Go to the textures in the Material Properties Window and UNTICK the Add Texture Box
Flood fill with a pale gradient of your choice and any settings
Locate the jd-texture32 and use the same settings
Click OK


Add a new raster layer
Shift this layer to the bottom
Go to Image > Canvas Size
Put 600 in Width and Height
Click Lock Aspect Ratio
In the Placement Area there are 9 boxes, click on the middle one with the Diamond on it
Click OK


Activate the bottom layer - Raster 2
Go to the Material Properties and Click Texture and Tick the ADD Texture box
Locate the jd-texture38 and use the same settings
Click OK
Flood Fill the bottom Raster 2 with this

Activate Raster 1
Apply a Drop Shadow of
    Use these settings:-
  • Vertical - 5
  • Horizontal - 5
  • Opacity - 65
  • Blur - 10
  • Colour - Black
Click OK
Reapply the drop shadow with Negative 5 in Vertical and Horizontal

Add Borders
With your dropper tool pick a colour from your gradient and add a border of 4 pixels in this colour
Add a White Border of 4 Pixels
Add a 4 pixel border with your colour choice


Save this as YourName-Lesson22d
