Lesson 33


I have used a pattern from previous lessons - goldgrad1

I have used Flower 3 Preset Shape for this lesson - If you don't have that one, go here to pick it up Level 2 Downloads Page

First - Wait for the Video player to load
Then - You need to watch the video before doing lesson below - it has a lot more important information and explanations for you
You may do the lesson as you watch the video though
Also - Click the full screen button on the player to watch it full screen or you may not see all of the settings properly



1. RECTANGLE SHAPE

Open a New Transparent Image - 500 x 5 00 - Raster Background
Load into the Foreground Box this RED - #c00000
Load into the Background Box this YELLOW - #eecb50
Go to Shape Flyout Menu and Select Rectangle


    Settings are
  • Mode = Rectangle
  • Show Nodes = Unticked
  • create on Vector = Unticked
  • Horizontal Radius = 0
  • Vertical Radius = 0
  • Width = 10
  • Anti-Alias = Ticked
Draw out a Rectangle in the Top Half of the Image - start from the top left corner and drag to right


    Select the Magic Wand
  • Mode = Replace
  • Match Mode = RGB Value
  • Tolerance = 0
  • Contiguouse + Unticked
  • Feather = 0
  • Anti-Alias = Ticked
  • Outside
Click somewhere on the Yellow area
Go to Effects > Texture Effects > Weave
  • Gap Size = 2
  • Width = 10
  • Opacity = 25
  • Weave Colour = Black
  • Gap Colour = Any
  • Fill Gaps = Unticked
Click OK

Invert the Selection
Click somewhere in the Transparent Area - Now just the Red border is selected
Go to Effects > Texture Effects > Soft Plastic

  • Blur = 10
  • Detail = 75
  • Density = 80
  • Angle = 213
  • Colour = RED (Foreground)
Click OK

    Apply Inner Bevel
  • Bevel = #5
  • Width = 8
  • Smoothness = 0
  • Depth = 20
  • Ambience = 0
  • Shininess = 0
  • Colour = White
  • Angle = 315
  • Intensity = 50
  • Elevation = 30
Click OK

Deselect



2. OVAL SHAPE

Add a New Raster Layer
Go to Shapes Menu and Select Ellipse
Select Oval and Change the Width to 5 - Leave all other settings as they are
Draw out an Oval - start in the top left to draw out the oval shape - not in the centre as for a selection


Select the Magic Wand - same settings as before

Click in the Yellow Area
Go to Effects > Texture Effects > Sandstone
  • Blur = 50
  • detail = 8
  • Luminance = 12
  • Angle = 215
  • Colour = White
Click OK

Invert the Selection
Click somewhere in the Transparent Area - Now just the Red border is selected
Go to Effects > Texture Effects > Sculpture

  • Pattern = goldgrad1
  • Size = 50
  • Smoothness = 15
  • Depth = 40
  • Ambience = 50
  • Shininess = 50
  • Solour = RED (Foreground)
  • Angle = 355
  • Intensity = 65
  • Elevation = 45
Click OK

Deselect
Place a Drop Shadow of your choice on the Oval Shape
Click on the Rectangle layer and add a Drop Shadow of you choice
Merge all Layers


Save this as YourName-Lesson34a


3. FLOWER SHAPES

Open a New Transparent Image - 500 x 500 - Raster Background
Go to the Shapes Menu and Choose Preset Shape

  • Shape List = Flower 3
  • Retain Style = TICKED
  • Anti-Alisa = TICKED
  • Create as Vector = UNTICKED
  • Line Style = Straight
Draw out the Flower in the Left top Corner - starting in the top left corner - It will be Black and White
Now Untick Retain Style and change the Width to 3

Add a New Raster Layer
Draw out another flower - starting in the centre top - You now have a Yellow flower with Red outline




4. OWN CHOICE SHAPES

Add a New Raster Layer
Find a Shape of your choosing
Change the Background box to a Gradient of your choice & change the Foreground to a flat colour that will match the gradient
Draw out your shape in the Bottom left corner

Add another Raster Layer
Place a Pattern of your choice into the Background box & an outline colour to match in the Foreground box
Find a different shape of your choice Draw this out in the bottom right area


To each of those layers add an inner bevel and drop shadow of your choice
Add a texture to the Yellow and Red flower

Merge all Flatten


Save this as YourName-Lesson34b


5. SYMMETRIC SHAPES

Open a New Transparent Image - 500 x 500 - Raster Background
Choose Symmetric Shape in the Shapes Menu
    Settings are:-
  • Mode = Polygon
  • Show Nodes = UNTICKED
  • Create on Vector = UNTICKED
  • Number of Sides = 5
  • Vertical Radius = 0
  • Width = 4
  • Anti-Alias = TICKED
You can use any pattern with matching outline
Draw out a polygon in the top left corner of your transparent image.

Add a New Raster Layer
Change the Polygon to 12 sides
Place a Gradient of your choice into the Background box and a matching colour in the foreground box
Draw out your 12 sided polygon in the bottom left area - under your 5 sided polygon.


Add a New Raster Layer
Change the Mode to Star - keep the Settings
You can use any pattern, gradient or Colour
Draw the Star in the top Right area

Add a New Raster Layer
Change the Number of Sides to 6
You can use any pattern, gradient or Colour
Draw the Star in the bottom Right area


Add Inner Bevels and Drop Shadows of your choice to all of these shapes

Merge all Flatten


Save this as YourName-Lesson34c

    • 1st Flower is Black and White
    • 2nd Flower is Yellow with Red outline with a texture of your choice
    • 3rd Own Choice Shape with Gradient and outline
    • 4th Own Choice Shape with Pattern and outline
  3. Polygon and Star Shapes - Add your choice of Inner Bevel and Drop Shadows - YourName-Lesson34c
    • 5 Sided Polygon - any pattern & outline
    • 12 Sided Polygon - any gradient & outline
    • 12 sided Star - any colour, gradient or pattern
    • 6 Sided Star - any colour, gradient or pattern
