Then - You need to watch the video before doing lesson below - it has a lot more important information and explanations for you
You may do the lesson as you watch the video though
Also - Click the full screen button on the player to watch it full screen or you may not see all of the settings properly

1. FLOAT

Open a Transparent Raster Image - 450 x 450
Load #426a56 into your foreground box and #81b39b into the background box
    Activate the Text Tool
  • Font = Candles
  • Size = 100 Pixels
  • Alignment = Centre
  • Direction = Horizontal
  • Anti-alias = Sharp
  • Stroke Width = 2
  • Create as = Floating
Type your Name or Text into the Transparent image near the top
Click the Apply Changes - You now have running ants and 2 layers = Raster 1 + Floating Selection
Deselect and now the 2 layers are now combined

    Select the Magic Wand
  • Mode = Replace
  • Match Mode = RGB Value
  • Tolerance = 100
  • Contiguouse + Unticked
  • Feather = 0
  • Anti-Alias = Ticked
  • Outside
Click somewhere on your text = the running ants are now surrounding all off the text

Click on the Float icon in your custom toolbar
Look in the layer palette - you have a Floating Selection Layer, which is a copy of Raster 1
(Floating is duplicating the selected image and floats it directly above the original)
Grab the image with your move tool and drag it down below the original line of text.
Right click on the Floating Selection layer and Promote Selection to Layer.
Deselect

2. DEFLOAT

Add a new Raster Layer
Activate the Text Tool and type your text in again.
Click the Apply Changes
Deselect & shift the text if necessary

Select all
Click on the Float icon - You now have 4 layers in the layer palette - with the top one being the Floating Selection.

Click on the Defloat icon - This cancels any float you had, so now the Floating Selection is gone and you will have text
and a Set of running ants, but they are not connected any longer, they are separate.
With the mover tool grab the text and drag it down - this will move the text but NOT the running ants.

Flood Fill the Running ants with the Darker green
Go to the Texture Icon and apply any texture you wish to that text
Apply and Inner Bevel of your choice to that text also.
Look in the Layer Palette and you will see 2 sets of text on the one layer - Raster 2.
Apply a Drop Shadow to this layer - it will go on both sets of text - you can use your own drop shadow, but below is the one I used.

  • Vertical = 5
  • Horizontal = 5
  • Opacity = 50
  • Blur = 5
  • Colour = Black
  • Shadow on New Layer = Unticked
Click OK

Activate Raster 1 and Activate the Magic Wand
Change the tolerance to 0
Click somewhere on the pale colour of this layer - this is the top row of Text = The outline of text is not selected this time.

    Apply Blinds to this selection
  • Width = 2
  • Opacity = 50
  • Colour = Black
  • Horizontal = UNTICKED
  • Light from left/top = TICKED
Click OK

Apply the same Drop Shadow you used earlier

Activate the Promoted Selection layer = 2nd row of text
With the Magic Wand select the lighter area of this text
Apply Mosaic Glass with the following settings:-
  • Number of columns = 25
  • Number of rows = 25
  • Symmetric = TICKED
  • Glass curvature = 50
  • Edge of curvature = 0
  • Grout = 2
  • Grout Diffusion = 50
Click OK
Deselect & apply the same drop shadow

Take a screenshot of your layer palette and crop to show the 3 layers

3. OBJECT REMOVER TOOL

Open the Baby's Breath with Poppy Image you downloaded from Pixabay - Duplicate and close the original.
Resize the image to 35% and sharpen.
Activate the Object Remover in the Drop Down menu where the Clone tool is.
Have the Selection Mode - Lasso tool activated

Version 1
Draw around the Poppy as close as you can, including the stem, but you don't need to be perfect.
Now activate the Source Mode icon and it works like the crop tool so you pulling the nodes in to select an area in the image to replace the poppy with.
So grab it in the centre and move it over to the left to select an area that is similar to the background where the poppy is.
Pull the nodes in so that the selection is just big enough to cover the poppy.
Then click on the Apply Tick - have a look at the result - save this to compare with Version 2

Version 2
Click the undo button and now try this
You can click the Redo button to place the selections back on the image, but make these changes to the settings
Tick the Smart Blending box
Put the Feather on 30
Click the apply changes a few times until the flower is gone
Save this version
Undo and Redo again, so that you have the selections
Do a screenshot of this and crop the image to just show the two selections
