Lesson 41


You will need this image from Pixabay - Fantasy Tree Lanscape

You will need this zip file of Images Lesson 41 Zip File

First - Wait for the Video player to load
Then - You need to watch the video before doing lesson below - it has a lot more important information and explanations for you
You may do the lesson as you watch the video though
Also - Click the full screen button on the player to watch it full screen or you may not see all of the settings properly



Open the Fantasy image from Pixaby and Duplicate it - minimize the Original
Open all of the images in the zip file and minimize them.

1. CIRCLE

Resize the duplicated image
~ By Pixels Selected
~ Height = 600 (PSP will work the Width, which should be 1059)
~ Lock Aspect Ratio = Ticked
~ Resize all layers = Ticked

Click OK & Sharpen

Activate the CropTool
Choose Square with Pixel Dimensions = 600 x 600
Shift it over to the Left side up against the edge of the image


Click on the Apply tick
Right click on the Background Layer in the Layers Palette and Promote Background Layer

Go to Effects > Geometric Effects > Circle
Choose Transparent & Click OK


Resize by 50% - Lock Aspect Ratio is Ticked, but Resize all Layer is UNTICKED
Click OK

Activate the Magic Wand
Go to Presets on the far left of the tool bar and click on Reset to Default
Click somewhere in the transparent Area
Invert the Selection - so the Sphere is now selected

Bring up the globe.psp file
Copy the globe layer
Right click on the top of the Image > Paste > Paste into Selection


Deselect
Bring up the PumpkinGlobe.psp file
Copy Layer3 and Paste it as a New Layer - this is the top layer and it is the bas of the globe
With the move tool, shift the base to the bottom of the Sphere and position it so it is "Holding" the sphere
Click on the Align Horizontally Centre in Canvas icon to position it in the centre


Merge Visible

    Apply Drop Shadow
  • Vertical = 5
  • Horizontal = 5
  • Opacity = 50
  • Blur = 6
  • Colour = Black
  • Shadow on New Layer = Unticked
Click OK

Merge All Layers
Crop the Image so that you have the Globe in the Centre of a Square


Save as:- YourName-Lesson41a


2. PENTAGON

Bring up the Original Image
Duplicate twice - Minimize one and close the original
Resize by 30% - Lock Aspect Ratio is Ticked, but Resize all Layer is UNTICKED
Click OK & Sharpen
Right click on the Background Layer in the Layers Palette and Promote Background Layer
Place #a9ad6d in the Foreground Box of the Materials Palette and #121100

Go to Effects > Geometric Effects > Pentagon
Choose Colour & Right click in the colour place and choose the light Green in the foreground box
Click OK


Go to Image > Canvas Size
Have Lock Aspect ratio TICKED first
Place 650 in the Width and PSP will work out the Height
Select the Placement of Centre
Click OK

Activate the Flood Fill Tool and Left Click somewhere in the transparent area to Fill with the Light Green
Activate the Magic Wand - Change the Tolerance to 0
Click on the Light Green somewhere

Apply some Effects to the Green Background - these are your choice
(I applied Blinds and Mosaic Glass - see the video for my settings if you wish to use them)


Invert the Selection
Go to Effects > 3D Effects > Chisel
~ Size = 10
~ Solid Colour Selected
~ Colour = Light Green

Click OK
Deselect

Crop the Image to Chop off some of the Side areas - Use the full height of the image -
Check the size in the Black bar along the bottom of PSP on the Right - it should say Image 649 x 368
So in your Crop Settings place 368 in the Height and then place 450 in the Width
Move the crop selection to have your Pentagon in the centre
Click the Apply tick

Add a border of 2 Pixels in the Dark Green
Add a border of 2 Pixels in the Light Green
Add a border of 2 Pixels in the Dark Green


Save as:- YourName-Lesson41b


3. PERSPECTIVE - HORIZONTAL

Bring up the duplicated Image
Resize by 35% - Lock Aspect Ratio is Ticked, but Resize all Layer is UNTICKED
Click OK & Sharpen
Right click on the Background Layer in the Layers Palette and Promote Background Layer

Go to Effects > Geometric Effects > Perspective - Horizontal
Choose Repeat
Place your choice of Distortion amount in the selection box - it can go either way, but make it a noticeable
Click OK


Activate Freehand Selection Tool with the following settings
~ Selection Type = Point to Point
~ Mode = Add
~ Feather = 0
~ Smoothing = 0
Select both of the Triangles with the Striped areas

Invert the Selection
Right click on Raster 1 in the Layers palette > Promote Selection to Layer
Deselect

Activate Raster 1 (the bottom layer)
Right click on this layer in the Layer Palette > Properties
Lower the Opacity to 50
Click OK

Activate the Promoted Selection Layer
Apply an Inner Bevel of your Choice
Apply a Drop Shadow of your Choice

Add a border of 2 Pixels in the Dark Green
Add a border of 2 Pixels in the Light Green
Add a border of 2 Pixels in the Dark Green


Save as:- YourName-Lesson41c
