1. TEXT ON THE BOTTOM - INSIDE OF THE CIRCLE
Open a New Transparent Image with a Raster Background - 450 x 450
Place Red from the Recent Materials box into the Foreground Box and nothing in the Background Box.
Click on the Preset Shape tool. Locate Ellipse in the Drop down Window on the Tool Bar.
~ Anti-alias = Ticked
~ Create as Vector = TICKED
~ Line Style = Solid
~ Width = 2
Right click on the top of the image and turn the Rulers on - Zoom in to see the rulers better
Starting at 100 x 100, draw out a Red circle to 400 x 400 - this can be very approximate.
Click on your Centre in Canvas icon OR Objects > Align > Centre in Canvas
Right click on the top of the image and turn the rulers off.
A circle is a continuous line with 4 nodes - Top, bottom, Right side & Left Side.
This circle at the moment is going in a clockwise manner and to get the text flowing in the opposite direction for text at the bottom,
we need to change the direction of the circle.
Check that the Vector Layer is activated in your Layer palette and then click on the Edit Mode Arrow up in the top left of the Tool Bar.
Hover over the node on the Right Side of the circle - see the Black arrow plus a cross with 4 arrows, then click the left mouse button.
You will then have a long handle and the arrow pointing down (on the bottom of the handle)
This indicates the direction of the circle - and thus the direction the text will flow.
The Reverse this to to Objects > Edit > Reverse Contour
You will now see that the handle on the circle has the arrow pointing upwards and the circle is now in an anti-clockwise manner
and the text flow will also be reversed.
Duplicate the image and minimize one.
Load #196919 into your Background box - a GREEN.
Activate the Text Tool & use the following settings:
- Font = Flat Brush OR Flat Brush Bold
- Size = 84 Pixels
- Font Style = None
- Font Colour = Any
- Alignment = Centre
- Direction = Horizontal & Down
- Anti-Alias = Sharp
- Stroke Width = 0
- Stroke Colour = RED
- Create as = Vector
- Leading = 0
- Kerning = 0
- Offset = 0
- Line Style = Solid
Hold the mouse over the curved line as close as possible to the centre top of the circle -
You will not be able to get it right in the centre though, as there is a node in the road.
You will see the Cross Hairs with the Capital T inside a curved line.
When you see this symbol, then click the mouse to get the Flashing line for the text - this will be above the red circle.
Type in the word Discovery. The word should be sitting on the red circle.
Click the Apply Changes tick - there will now be a bounding box surrounding the text.
Now if your text is not quite in the centre then you can grab your text and move it.
To shift it, grab the node in the centre of the bounding box (you will see the 4 arrows in different directions) and shift it either to the right or left.
Now we are going to change the shape of the circle
Go to the Layer Palette and open the layers by clicking on the small white triangle to the left of the layer.
Click on the Red Circle layer, called Ellipse - the bounding box will appear around the red circle now on your working image.
Hover over the node on the Right side until you get the double white arrow.
Then pull the red circle out until it almost touches the side of the window.
Do the same on the other side.
Duplicate the image and minimize one of them.
Merge all layers.

2. CURVED TEXT WITH IMAGE
Now Bring up the image that you just minimized (Red Oval + Green curved text)
Go to the layer palette and click on the small white triangle beside Vector 1 - this will open 2 more layers.
Close the Ellipse (Red Oval) layer by clicking on the eye.

Now find a small image (preferably with a transparent background - or misted edge), place it in the space above the curved text.
Add a very simple Inner Bevel to the Text layer and also a drop shadow
Add the same drop shadow to the image
Merge all Layers
Crop the image
Duplicate the image and minimize one of them.

3. TEXT ON THE - OUTSIDE THE CIRCLE
Bring up the image that you just minimized at the beginning of the lesson (Red ellipse).
Check that the green is in the background box of the materials palette with nothing in the foreground box.
Click on the text tool and check the settings are still as we had them earlier with the excepton of the size.
Make this 71
Go to the extra settings for the text and find the Offset.
Set this at -50
Hover the mouse over the red circle and when the Crosshairs with Capital T inside the Curved line appears, then click the mouse.
When the Text Line flashes type DISCOVERY (capitals this time)
Click on the Apply Changes tick on the toolbar.
