Lesson 8
You will need the Turtle image. Go to Unsplash to download it
Download the 1920x635 image save to a folder where you store your images
You will also need this font for this lesson - It is Advert if you don't already have this one.

Download, then unzip to a folder where you store your fonts
First - Wait for the Video player to load
Then - You need to watch the video before doing lesson below - it has a lot more important information and explanations for you
You may do the lesson as you watch the video though
Also - Click the full screen button on the player to watch it full screen or you may not see all of the settings properly
Browse for the Turtle Image
Duplicate (Shift + D) this image and close or minimize the original.
1. PREPARATION
Open a new image
- 600 x 600 Pixels
- Raster Background
- Colour - None (Transparent Ticked)
Click OK
Select the Eyedropper Tool
Pick a dark blue colour from the bottom right area of the image and place in the Foreground box
Flood Fill the transparent Image with this dark blue.

2. CUT OUT THE TURTLE
Select the Freehand Selection Tool with the following settings:-
- Selection Type - Freehand
- Mode - Replace
- Feather - 50
- Smoothing - 10
- Anti-alias - Ticked
Draw roughly around the turtle - quite close
Copy and Paste as a NEW LAYER onto the Blue image
Image > Resize
Resize by 25% - Lock aspect Ratio is Ticked - Resize all Layer is UNTICKED
Click OK
Adjust > Sharpness > Sharpen

3. DUPLICATING & NAMING LAYERS
Right click on Raster 2 in the Layers Palette and Rename "Turtle 1".
Layers > Duplicate
Rename "Copy of Turtle 1" to "Turtle 2"
Layers > Duplicate
Rename "Copy of Turtle 2" to "Turtle 3"
Click one of the Apply Ticks
4. SHIFTING TURTLES & APPLYING EFFECTS
Grab the move tool and Grab the top layer turtle (Turtle 3) and move to bottom right corner
Grab the next layer turtle (Turtle 2) and move slightly out of the way
Grab the bottom layer turtle (Turtle 1) and move to the top left corner
Move Turtle 2 back into the centre - so that they are in a diagonal line from top left to bottom right.

Click on Turtle 1 Layer
Effects >Texture Effects > Mosaic Glass
Use the following settings:-
- Number of columns - 50
- Number of Rows - 50
- Symmetric - Ticked
- Glass curvature (%) - 25
- Edge curvature (%) - 10
- Grout Width - 2
- Grout Diffusion (%) - 50
Click OK

Click on Turtle 2 Layer
Effects >Texture Effects > Soft Plastic
Use the Default Settings - Click default button (curved arrow on right)

Click OK

Click on Turtle 3 Layer
Effects >Texture Effects > Polished Stone
Use the following settings:-
- Blur - 3
- Detail - 5
- Polishing - 10
- Angle - 225
- Colour - Light Grey in Recent Colours Box
Click OK
5. OPACITY & NEW LAYER
Click on Turtle 1 Layer
Lower the opacity to approx 50
Click on Turtle 2 Layer
Lower the opacity to approx 75
Click on Turtle 3 Layer and ADD a New Raster Layer (Icon down below layers - 2 bits blue paper)

Name that Layer "TEXT" when the new box opens
Click OK
6. TEXT
Click on the Text tool - Use the following Settings:-
- Font - Advert
- Size - 150 - Pixels
- Font Colour - Dark blue (Background box)
- Alignment - centre
- Direction - Left to Right
- Anti-alias -Smooth
- Stroke width - 4
- Stroke Colour - White (Foreground box)
- Create as - Floating
Click somewhere at the top and type "Turtles" OR text of your choice
Click Apply
Activate the move tool and place the text in the centre or where you would like it to be.

Effects > 3D Effects > Inner Bevel
Use these settings:-
- Bevel - # 11
- Width - 10
- Smoothness - 15
- Depth - 4
- Ambience - 10
- Shininess - 0
- Colour - White
- Angle - 315
- Intensity - 50
- Elevation - 30
Click OK

Effects > 3D Effects > Drop Shadow
Use these settings:-
- Vertical - 5
- Horizontal - 5
- Opacity - 75
- Blur - 5
- Colour - White
Click OK
Deselect

Move everything around to where you want them now, while they are still in layers
7. BUTTONIZE
Effects > 3D Effects > Buttonize
Use these settings:-
- Height - 15
- Width - 15
- Opacity - 100
- Edge - Solid
- Colour - White
Click OK
Layers > Merge >Merge all (Flatten)
Save as:- YourName-Lesson8
