1. PREPARE
Browse for the Beach Image - open in PaintShop Pro
Duplicate - Shift + D and MINIMIZE the original - we need it later
Browse for Autumn_Whispers.psp Image - Open in PSP
Browse for a-dozi's-210-photocorner-23.psp - open in PSP
Open the Gold Corners - I supplied these in Project 7
Duplicate and minimize for now - close the originals
2. ADD LADY
Resize the Beach Image to 35% & Sharpen
Bring up the image of the Girl and Copy and Paste as a New Layer
Resize this Layer by 75%
Lower the Opacity to around 60
Shift her to the Top Right Corner
3. FROSTED GLASS
Activate the Text Tool
Use the following settings:-
- Font - Arial Black
- Size - 128 or smaller to suite text length
- Units - Pixels
- Font Style - None
- Text Options - None
- Font Colour - Any
- Alignment - Centre
- Direction - Horizontal
- Anti-Alias - Smooth
- Stroke Width - 0
- Stroke Colour - Any
- Create as - Selection
Activate the Background Layer
Click roughly halfway between the girl and the left edge of the image and just above the horizon
See the image below where the RED dot is
Type your Text and click Apply Changes if you are happy
You should just have the selection on your background layer
Click on the Gaussian Blur icon
Set the Radius at 3
Click OK
Right click on the Background layer
Promote Selection to Layer - That Selection is now on it's own layer
Duplicate this layer and keep activated
Apply a Cutout to this Copy of Promoted Selection Layer
- Vertical - 5
- Horizontal - 5
- Opacity - 65
- Blur - 10
- Colour - White
- Fill the interior with colour - Unticked
Click OK
Now Activate the Layer below - Promoted Selection Layer
Apply the same Cutout but change the Vertical and Horizontal to Negative 5
Click OK
Close the Lady Layer (should be top layer)
Merge Visible Layers - The background, and 2 Promoted Layers with Cutout effect
Deselect
Open the Lady Layer
4. BORDERS
With your Dropper tool choose a Dark Brown colour for the Foreground Box and a Light Cream for the Background Box
- you may need to lighten it even more in the Material Properties box with the slider
Add a Light Cream border of 3 pixels
Add a Dark Brown border of 3 pixels
Add a Light Cream border of 3 pixels
Select All - use the icon OR Ctrl+A
Contract the Selection by 9 pixels (the amount of the borders)
Invert the Selection
Apply an Inner Bevel with these settings
- Bevel - #2
- Width - 5
- Smoothness - 0
- Depth - 2
- Ambience - 0
- Shininess - 20
- Colour - White
- Angle - 225
- Intensity - 40
- Elevation - 40
Click OK
Apply Drop Shadow
- Vertical - 5
- Horizontal - 5
- Opacity - 65
- Blur - 25
- Colour - Black
- Shadow on New Layer - Unticked
Click OK
Reapply the Drop Shadow with Negative 5 in both Vertical and Horizontal
Deselect - Ctrl + D
Add a Border of 20 pixels in any colour except the Light Cream (use a Recent Colours box Colour)
Activate the magic wand with the following settings:-
- Mode - Replace
- Match Mode - RGB Value
- Tolerance - 20
- Contiguous - TICKED
- Feather - 0
- Anti-Alias-TICKED
- Outside Selected
Click in the 20 Pixel Border
Click on the Pattern in the Foreground box and locate the original Image we minimized at the start (it will say Sunset)
~ Angle - 0
~ Scale - 25
Click OK
Flood Fill the Border with this pattern
Click on Gaussian Blur
Set Radius to 6
Click OK
Click on the Blinds Icon
- Width - 5
- Opacity - 50
- Colour - Dark Brown
- Horizontal - TICKED
- Light from Left Top -TICKED
Click OK & Deselect
Add a Light Cream border of 3 pixels
Add a Dark Brown border of 3 pixels
Add a Light Cream border of 3 pixels
Select All - use the icon OR Ctrl+A
Contract the Selection by 9 pixels (the amount of the borders)
Invert the Selection
Apply the same Inner Bevel we did before (It still should be set)
Apply the same Drop Shadow we did before (It still should be set at the negative)
Reapply the Drop Shadow with Positive
5 in both Vertical and Horizontal
Deselect
5. CORNERS
Bring up the Single corner
Copy & Paste as a New Layer
Activate the Move tool and shift the Border to the top Right Corner, between the 2 Borders we made - it will sit on the Blurred Section
Sharpen the Corner
Apply Drop Shadow
- Vertical - 1
- Horizontal - 1
- Opacity - 65
- Blur - 2
- Colour - Black
- Shadow on New Layer - Unticked
Click OK
Duplicate the Layer & Mirror Horizontal
Close Raster 1 and Merge Visible
Duplicate the Merged Layer
Mirror Vertical and Merge Visible
Open Raster 1
Bring up the Gold Corners
Copy Layer 8 and Paste as a New Layer
Shift to the inside of the top Left Border
Colourize
~ Hue -27
~ Saturation - 166
Click Ok & Sharpen
Apply the Same Drop Shadow we did to the last Corner (It should still be in settings)
Duplicate the Layer & Mirror Horizontal
Close the bottom 2 layers and Merge Visible
Duplicate the Merged Layer
Mirror Vertical and Merge Visible
Open the bottom 2 layers
Merge All (Flatten)
Save this as YourName-Project10a
- Now find images and Corners for your own creation based on this tutorial
- Use any colours you like, but choose ones that match from your image
- Add Frosted Glass Text - Remember to use a Fat Font to get the effect
Save this as YourName-Project10b
