1. BACKGROUND & TEXTURED LAYER
Resize the Leaves image by 40% and Sharpen
Right click on the Background layer in the layer palette and Promote Background Layer - now Raster 1
Add a New Raster Layer and move it underneath Raster 1
Activate the Dropper Tool and Choose a Dark Green, then lighten it OR use my colour #b5c39b - Place this into the Foreground Box
Place White in the Background box.
Flood fill the Bottom Layer - Raster 2 - with the light green. Check your layer palette to see if Raster 2 is now Green.
Go to the Texture icon and locate Plaid
- Size = 25
- Smoothness = 0
- Depth = 1
- Ambience = 0
- Shininess = 0
- Colour = White
- Angle = 315
- Intensity = 50
- Elevation = 30
Click OK
Activate Raster 1
Change the Blend Mode above the Layer Palette to Luminance (Legacy)
Lower the Opacity to around 25
Add a New Raster Layer
Click on the White in your Background Box and your Material Properties window will open
Click on the Texture Tab at the top and then tick the Add texture box
Locate the winni.texture.74 texture and click on it
~ Angle = 0
~ Scale = 50
Click OK
Flood Fill the empty layer with that White Swirly texture
Resize that layer by 90% and Sharpen
2. CUTOUT PIECES
Right click on the top of the Image (blue bar) and Click on Rulers
Activate the Selection Tool
- Selection = Circle
- Mode = Replace
- Feather = 0
- Anti-Alias = Ticked
- Selection Style = Normal
Start at around (x:500 y:255)
Draw out your circle to (300, 55)
Release the mouse and hit the Delete key on your keyboard
Deselect
Change the Selection type to Rounded Rectangle - leave the other settings as they were
Start at around (x:100 y:55)
Draw out your rounded rectangle to (200, 455 )
Release the mouse and hit the Delete key on your keyboard
Deselect & Turn off the Rulers
Apply Drop Shadow
- Vertical = 2
- Horizontal = 2
- Opacity = 50
- Blur = 2
- Colour = Black
- Shadow on New Layer = Unticked
Click OK
Reapply the Drop Shadow with Negative 2 in both Vertical and Horizontal
3. ADD LEAVES
Open the Acorn Leaves
Copy and Paste it as a New Layer
Resize to 80% and Sharpen
Mirror Horizontal and move it over the Left slightly to sit between the two cutout pieces.
Activate the Freehand Selection Tool and with a Feather of 35 draw around the end of the stalk
Hit the delete key on your keyboard twice & Deselect
Paste as a New Layer (the leaves should still be in memory)
Resize to 45% and Sharpen
Move it over to the Right bottom corner of the circle
Activate the Freehand Selection Tool and with a Feather of 35 draw around the end of the stalk
Hit the delete key on your keyboard twice & Deselect
Close Raster 1, 2 & 3
Merge Visible (the top leaves should still be active)
Apply the same drop Shadow as before and Open the layers
4. BORDERS
Activate the Dropper tool and pick a dark green from the leaves for the Background box
Make sure everything is in place before we add the borders
Add a Dark Green border of 2 pixels
Add a White border of 2 pixels
Add a Dark Green border of 2 pixels
Click on the Pattern in the Foreground box and search for the image you are working on
Select that and set the Angle = 0 and the Scale = 45 & Click OK
Add a border of 20 pixels - any colour
Activate the Magic Wand (Contiguous ticked & NO feathering) and Click in the 20 Pixel Border
Flood Fill with the Pattern
Apply Kaleidoscope Effect - use the Default settings, but change the number of petals to 2
Click OK
Apply an Inner Bevel
- Bevel = #7
- Width = 10
- Smoothness = 2
- Depth = 2
- Ambience = 0
- Shininess = 25
- Colour = White/li>
- Angle = 225
- Intensity = 40
- Elevation = 30
Click OK
Apply Drop Shadow
- Vertical = 5
- Horizontal = 5
- Opacity = 65
- Blur = 25
- Colour = Black
- Shadow on New Layer = Unticked
Click OK
Deselect
5. CORNERS
Bring up the corners - Copy Raster 3 & Paste as a New Layer
Sharpen
Activate the Move tool and to the top Left Corner, inside the border sitting against the edge
Apply the same Drop Shadow as before
Duplicate the Layer & Mirror Horizontal
Close Background Layer and Merge Visible
Duplicate the Merged Layer
Mirror Vertical and Merge Visible
Open the Background Layer
Change the Blend Mode to Luminance
6. WORD ART & SQUIRRELS
Open the word art - moment__hl.psp - Copy and Paste as a New Layer
Move it to the top and place it over the textured layer
Change the Blend Mode to Luminance (Legacy)
Bring up the Squirrels - Copy and Paste as a New Layer
Move them to the bottom so that the right squirrel's back foot is sitting on top of the inside of the circle
Apply a Drop Shadow.
Apply Drop Shadow
- Vertical = 10
- Horizontal = -10
- Opacity = 35
- Blur = 10
- Colour = Black
- Shadow on New Layer = Unticked
Click OK
Deselect
Merge Visible
7. SUNBURST
Go to Effects > Illumination > Sunburst
Use the following settings
- Colour = #ffffd1
- Light Spot Brightness = 35
- Light Spot Horizontal = 80
- Light Spot Vertical = 27
- Rays Density = 60
- Rays Brightness = 60
- Circles Brightness = 100
Click OK
Save this as YourName-Project11a
Now find images and Corners for your own creation based on this tutorial
Must include the following:-
- Textures
- 2 cutout pieces on a smaller textured layer
- Corners
- sunburst
- 2 PSP images
- Text or Word Art
- Patterned Border
Save this as YourName-Project11b
