Project 13

Including content to Lesson 29

You will need these supplies:-
Corners and Mask

Project 13 Zip File

Download, then unzip to a folder where you store your Corners & Masks

You will also need this Tiger Image from Pixabay

First - Wait for the Video player to load
Then - You need to watch the video before doing lesson below - it has a lot more important information and explanations for you
You may do the lesson as you watch the video though
Also - Click the full screen button on the player to watch it full screen or you may not see all of the settings properly





1. PREPARE

Browse for your image of the Tiger - Duplicate and Resize by 35%
Sharpen
Also open the mask and corners - duplicate and close the originals.

2. MASK LAYER

Right click on the Background layer and Promote Background to Layer
Load the colour #213416 into your foreground box - this is a dark green
Add a New Raster Layer and Flood Fill this layer with the Dark Green

Go to Mask from Image (Icon on Tool Bar) OR Layers > New Mask Layer > From Image
Locate the Mask you have opened and select it

~ Source Luminance = Selected
~ Invert mask data = Ticked


Click OK


    Activate the Magic Wand
  • Mode - Replace
  • Match Mode - RGB Value
  • Tolerance - 0
  • Contiguous - UNTICKED
  • Feather - 0
  • Anti-Alias-TICKED
  • Outside Selected
Click somewhere in the green area


Activate the Green coloured layer in the Layer palette

Go to Blinds
  • Width = 5
  • Opacity = 15
  • Colour = #808080 (Dark Grey in Recent Colours window)
  • Horiozontal = TICKED
  • Light from left/top = TICKED
Click OK Repeat the Blinds, but UNTICK the horizontal Box
    Apply an Inner Bevel
  • Bevel = #2
  • Width = 5
  • Smoothness = 0
  • Depth = 1
  • Ambience = 82
  • Shininess = 42
  • Colour = White/li>
  • Angle = 315
  • Intensity = 41
  • Elevation = 20
Click OK
Merge Layer Group
    Apply Drop Shadow
  • Vertical = 3
  • Horizontal = 3
  • Opacity = 75
  • Blur = 2
  • Colour = LIGHTER Grey in Recent Colours box
  • Shadow on New Layer = Unticked
Click OK
Deselect



3. BORDERS

Add a New Raster Layer
Select All - Ctrl+A
Then Contract the Selection by 8 pixels - Click OK

Select Selection Borders (Icon looks like blue circle with black dots around it)
OR Selections > Modify > Select Selection Borders
  • Inside = Selected
  • Border Width = 8
  • Anti-alias = Ticked
Click OK

Locate the D_gold fold pattern and load into the Foreground box with the settings of:-

~ Angle = 0
~ Scale = 50
Click OK

Flood Fill the selected Border with this gold Pattern
    Apply an Inner Bevel
  • Bevel = #3
  • Width = 20
  • Smoothness = 10
  • Depth = 70
  • Ambience = 0
  • Shininess = 10
  • Colour = White/li>
  • Angle = 225
  • Intensity = 40
  • Elevation = 40
Click OK
Deselect - Ctrl+D


Add Border of 3 pixels in any colour not in the image
Activate the Magic Wand (same settings as before)
Click on this new border
Flood fill with the Gold Pattern
    Apply an Inner Bevel
  • Bevel = #2
  • Width = 5
  • Smoothness = 0
  • Depth = 1
  • Ambience = 82
  • Shininess = 42
  • Colour = White/li>
  • Angle = 315
  • Intensity = 41
  • Elevation = 20
Click OK
Deselect - Ctrl+D



4. CORNERS

Bring up the corners
Copy Raster Layer 8 and Paste it as a New Layer

Activate the Move Tool Move it to the bottom Left corner and place it between the two borders


Duplicate that corner
Mirror Horizontal
Close the background layer
Merge Visible

Duplicate those corners
Mirror Vertical
Merge Visible
Open the background layer


Paste As New Layer (the corner is still in memory)
Activate the Freehand Selection Tool
  • Selection Type = Freehand
  • Mode = Replace
  • Feather = 0
  • Anti-alias = Ticked
  • Smoothing = 0
Select around 5 of the diamonds - The corner one plus 2 more on either side of the corner


Invert the Selection
Hit the Delete key on the keyboard
Deselect
With the Move Tool, shift it to inside the thicker border in the bottom Left Corner


Duplicate that corner
Mirror Horizontal
Close the background layer & the Merged Layer (the first set of corners)
Merge Visible

Duplicate that corner
Mirror Vertical
Merge Visible
Open the background layer & the Merged Layer

Merge All (Flatten)


Save this as YourName-Project13a


Now Create another one, with your choices of Images, Effects, & Colours to match Save this as YourName-Project12b
  • Mask with Effects OR Texture
  • Borders - 1 is from Select Selections Border
  • Corners - 1 or 2 sets
Save this as YourName-Project13b
