1. PREPARE
Open the Piano Keyboard Image - Duplicate and Resize by 35% and Sharpen
Also open the mask, floral pspimage and corner - duplicate and close the originals.
2. BACKGROUND
RRight click on the Background layer of the Piano image and Promote Background to Layer
Lower the Opacity of this layer to 30
Load the colour #63859e into your foreground box - mid blue
Load the colour # d29f6e into your Background box - tan/apricot
Click on Gradient and in the foreground box and locate the Foreground-Background gradient - Select it
Settings of:-
- Style = Linear
- Angle = 0
- Repeats = 0
- Invert = Ticked
Click OK
Add a New Raster Layer
Flood Fill the New Layer with the Gradient
Change the Blend Mode to Hard Light
Go to Texture and use these settings:-
- Texture = Fine Canvas
- Size = 25
- Smoothness = 2
-
- Depth = 1
- Ambience = 0
- Shininess = 0
- Colour = White
- Angle = 315
- Intensity = 50
- Elevation = 30
Click OK
3. MASK LAYER
Add a New Raster Layer
Flood Fill this layer with the Blue
Go to Mask from Image (Icon on Tool Bar) OR Layers > New Mask Layer > From Image
Locate the Mask you have opened and select it
~ Source Luminance = Selected
~ Invert mask data = Unticked
Click OK
Merge Layer Group
Go to Texture and use these settings:-
- Texture = Plaid
- Size = 250
- Smoothness = 15
-
- Depth = 1
- Ambience = 0
- Shininess = 0
- Colour = White
- Angle = 315
- Intensity = 50
- Elevation = 30
Click OK
Apply Drop Shadow
- Vertical = 1
- Horizontal = 1
- Opacity = 100
- Blur = 5
- Colour = Black
- Shadow on New Layer = Unticked
Click OK
4. FLORAL IMAGE
Bring up the floral image
Copy & Paste OR Drag it from the Layer Palette to the image
Change the Blend Mode to Luminance
Shift the flower over to the left and line the centre long pearl coming straight up out of the left flower over the top of the left edge of the mask
The swirl will be off the image to the left, but all the pearls are still in the image at the bottom.
Copy & Paste OR Drag another flower from the Layer Palette to the image
Resize by 75% and Sharpen
Go to Image > Free Rotate
- Direction = Left
- Degrees = Free = 25
- All Layers = Unticked
- Rotate Single Layer around canvas centre = Unticked
Click OK
Mirror Horizontal & Mirror Vertical
Shift it up to the top Right corner, but with all of the flower still within the image
Change the Blend Mode to Luminance Legacy
5. WORD ART
Bring up the Word Art
Copy & Paste OR Drag it from the Layer Palette to the image
Position it with the Move Tool to place the word 'Music' in the centre, just above the wide V of the mask
Change the Blend Mode to Soft Light
6. BORDERS
Add Border of 2 pixels in the tan colour
Add Border of 2 pixels in the blue colour
Add Border of 2 pixels in the tan colour
Select all - Ctrl+A
Contract Selection by 6 pixels
Invert the Selection
Apply an Inner Bevel
- Bevel = #2
- Width = 5
- Smoothness = 0
- Depth = 1
- Ambience = 82
- Shininess = 42
- Colour = White/li>
- Angle = 315
- Intensity = 41
- Elevation = 20
Click OK
Invert the Selection
Apply A Cut Out
- Vertical = 3
- Horizontal = 3
- Opacity = 50
- Blur = 25
- Colour = Black
- Fill interior with Colour = Unticked
Click OK
Repeat the Cutout changing both the Offsets to Negative 3
Click OK & Deselect
Add Border of 20 pixels in any colour
Activate the magic wand with the following settings:-
- Mode =Replace
- Match Mode = RGB Value
- Tolerance = 0
- Use all Layers = Unticked
- Contiguous = Unticked
- Feather = 0
- Anti-alias = Ticked
- Outside = Selected
Click somewhere in the last border
Go to the Foreground-Background Gradient
Use these settings
- Style = Linear
- Angle = 45
- Repeats = 20
-
- Invert = Ticked
Click OK
Flood Fill with the Gradient
Go to Kaleidoscope and use the default settings, but change
~ The Number of Petals = 2
~ Scale Factor = -75
Click OK
Go to Adjust > Softness > Soft Focus
Use the Slight Glow From the Presets Settings Drop down menu
Click OK & Deselect
Add Border of 2 pixels in the tan colour
Add Border of 2 pixels in the blue colour
Add Border of 2 pixels in the tan colour
Select all - Ctrl+A
Contract Selection by 6 pixels
Invert the Selection
Apply an Inner Bevel - the same we used before - Click OK
Invert the Selection
Apply the same cutout we last used - these will be negative 3 - Click OK
Repeat the Cutout changing both the Offsets to Positve 3
Click OK & Deselect
7. CORNERS
Bring up the corner
Copy & Paste OR Drag it from the Layer Palette to the image
Shift it with the move tool to the top left corner sitting the straight edge pieces of the corner just inside and touching the edge of the border
Change the Blend Mode to Luminance Legacy & Change the Opacity to 80
Duplicate that corner
Mirror Horizontal & Mirror Vertical
Merge All (Flatten)
Save this as YourName-Project14a
Now create another one - your choices of Image, Effects, Mask, Corner, Decor, Text & Colours to match
NOTE - If you use a different one, it must be very similar in style and look, otherwise use the set one for this lesson
- Image for the Background with texture
- Mask with Effects OR Texture
- Borders - Use effects in them
- Corners & PSP Images
