Project 8

Including content to Lesson 21

First - Wait for the Video player to load

You may do the lesson as you watch the video though
Also - Click the full screen button on the player to watch it full screen or you may not see all of the settings properly




You will need these supplies:-
Image & Corner

Project 8 Zip File

Download, then unzip to a folder where you store your images & corners


1. PREPARE

Browse for the Floral Image 11-1161.jpg - open in PaintShop Pro
Duplicate - Shift + D and close the original.
Open the MD-Corner-2silver.psp - duplicate and close the original - minimize the corner for now

Place this peach colour in the foreground box - #e7bca9
Place this Green in the background box - #698e87

Resize the Floral image so it is 300 pixels on the Shortest Side - which is the Width & then Sharpen




2. ADD BORDERS

Add a Green border of 2 pixels
Add a Peach border of 3 pixels
Add a Green border of 4 pixels

Select All - Click on Icon - See image below, circled in Yellow OR Ctrl+A
Contract Selection - You should have an icon for this - See image below, outlined in Red OR Selections > Modify > Contract


We contract by the total amount of the borders - 2+3+4=9
So place 9 in the Number of Pixels box
Click OK - Your running ants are now inside the borders

Invert Selection

The running ants are now around the borders


Apply Inner Bevel
    Use the following settings:-
  • Bevel - #2
  • Width - 5
  • Smoothness - 0
  • Depth - 1
  • Ambience - 82
  • Shininess - 42
  • Colour - White
  • Angle - 315
  • Intensity - 41
  • Elevation - 20
Click OK
Invert the Selection - the running ants are now inside the borders
    Apply Cutout
  • Vertical - 2
  • Horizontal - 2
  • Opacity - 50
  • Blur - 15
  • Colour - Black
  • Fill the interior with colour - Unticked
Click OK
Reapply the Cutout making the Vertical and Horizontal Negative 2 & Click OK
Deselect - Ctrl + D


Add a Peach border of 10 pixels
Activate the Magic Wand
Make sure Contiguous is TICKED and Click inside the last Peach Border


Click on the Texture Icon and Locate Small Dimples
    Use the following settings
  • Size - 100
  • Smoothness - 10
  • Depth - 1
  • Ambience - 0
  • Shininess - 0
  • Colour - White
  • Angle - 315
  • Intensidty - 50
  • Elevation - 30
Click OK
Deselect
This is Small Dimples Effect


Add a Green border of 2 pixels
Add a Peach border of 3 pixels
Add a Green border of 4 pixels

Select All - Click on Icon OR Ctrl + A
Contract Selection by 9 Pixels - Click OK
Invert Selection and Apply the same Inner Bevel as before

Click OK & Deselect


Add a Peach border of 12 pixels
Activate the Magic Wand - same settings as before & click inside the peach border
Change the Foreground to a pattern and click on that to locate the image we are working on
(My image is Image 5, so I locate Image 5 in the Material Properties)

~ Angle - 45
~ Scale - 25
Click OK


Flood Fill the Peach border with this pattern
Apply Kaleidoscope with the Default settings, but use Wrap instead of Reflect
Click OK & Deselect


Add a Green border of 2 pixels
Add a Peach border of 3 pixels
Add a Green border of 4 pixels

Select All - Click on Icon OR Ctrl + A
Contract Selection by 9 Pixels - Click OK
Invert Selection and Apply the same Inner Bevel as before

Click OK & Deselect




3. CORNERS

Bring up the Corner we minimized
Copy and Paste as a New Layer

Resize this corner by 45% & sharpen
Activate the Move Tool and position it in the top Left corner - inside the last inner bevel we just did



Colourize with these settings
~ Hue - 109
~ Saturation - 58
Click OK

    Apply Drop Shadow.
  • Vertical - 2
  • Horizontal - 2
  • Opacity - 50
  • Blur - 2
  • Colour - Black
Click OK


Duplicate that Corner Layer
Mirror Horizontal

Close the Background Layer and make sure one of the corner layers in activated
Merge Visible
Duplicate Layer with the two corners
Mirror Vertical

MERGE ALL


Save this as YourName-Project8a


  • Now find images and decor corners for your own creation based on this tutorial
  • Use any colours you like, but choose ones that match from your image
Save this as YourName-Project8b
